Job description, responsibilities and duties

We are looking for a Senior Strategic Sourcer / Category Manager for IT commodities (HW, SW, professional services, etc.) in our dynamic team, who can independently manage sourcing projects and has a desire to further develop his skills and capabilities.

The key responsibilities and competencies of our Category Manager:

- Conducts procurement activities (tenders, supplier selections, negotiations, etc.) and is responsible for transparent, fair and efficient selection of suppliers for VUB and the ISP group using electronic procurement tools.
- Actively manages the process of creating and concluding contractual relationships and optimizes the portfolio of contracts.
- Respects and follows the valid procurement processes and rules and alerts in case of circumvention or non-compliance with company and group rules, processes and policies (compliance).
- In close cooperation with business owners participates in the creation, optimization and implementation of procurement and ordering strategies in the range of entrusted commodities with regard to maximizing the needs of internal clients and cost efficiency.
- Leads and cooperates with teams of experts from various organizational units of the company nominated within the specific purchasing projects.
- For the entrusted commodities is responsible for ensuring transparency of costs and requirements as well as for optimized demand and related sourcing plan creation in cooperation with relevant business owners.
- Actively participates in the identification of possible ways of cost reductions and cost optimizations via managing the required volumes / scope of requirements and their specifications (demand shaping).
- Seeks and analyzes opportunities to merge requirements into larger purchasing projects and is responsible for aligning with the strategy and requirements of the mother company and other members of the ISP group, whenever appropriate.
- Performs continuous market analysis focusing on the availability of alternative supply sources, market development, new innovative solutions and price prediction.
- Builds and develops relationships with suppliers, participates in the evaluation and management of their performance, evaluation and mitigation of supplier risks, actively involves suppliers in the process of streamlining purchasing requirements, provides structured feedback from business owners and suppliers.
- Performs standard as well as specific procurement-related tasks (for example tasks related to outsourcing, etc.).
- Creates various reports and overviews about activities completed and/or ongoing.
