Job description, responsibilities and duties

The duties and tasks of the Cook are:
I- Prepare menus, in coordination with the occupants of the Residence;
II- Check food stock and expiration dates;
III- Be responsible for cleaning and organizing the work area (including utensils, shelves, cabinets, refrigerators and freezers), as well as for the accommodation of food and utensils;
IV- Prepare daily meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) for the occupants of the Residence;
V- Prepare meals to be served at dinners, cocktails, receptions and other official events;
VI- Pay attention to health standards and good hygiene and food safety practices, in order to avoid food contamination;
VI- Maintain personal hygiene compatible with the function;
VI- Inform the Embassy administration about the needs of the kitchen, for the appropriate measures;
VII- The candidate to be hired must be willing to work overtime occasionally, with the right for time compensation, through a bank of hours.

Workload: 6 hours per day (30 hours per week).

Information about the selection process

1) Application: mail or deliver to the Embassy – Palisady 47, Bratislava, from October 6th to October 28th, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, an envelope with the curriculum vitae in English and a copy of the documents/information below mentioned:
-Be at least 18 years of age at the time of registration;
-Prove that he/she has at least four (4) years of experience as a cook;
-Provide along with the curriculum vitae:
a) proof of legal residence in Slovakia; and
b) ) high school certificate (or equivalent) or professional training certificate;
c) for Brazilian candidates, provide:
c.1.) certificate of discharge of electoral duties;
c.2.) copy of Brazilian ID (RG) or passport and “CPF”;
c.3.) statement signed by the candidate, confirming that he or she is not an active civil servant of the Brazilian government, and that he or she does not have any income or remuneration from the Brazilian government;
c.4.) if male Brazilian citizen, copy of document attesting the discharge of military service;

2) Interview with the Selection Committee:
I – Selection schedule:
1. On October 31th 2022, the Embassy will release the names of candidates who have fulfilled the required conditions to participate in the next stages of the process;
2. On November 3rd and 4th 2022, the selected candidates will be called for an interview at the Embassy, Palisady 47, Bratislava. Interview times will be informed to the candidates in advance.
3. On November 8th 2022, the Embassy will announce the names of the 03 candidates with the best evaluation who will be able to participate in the next stage of the selection process.

3) Practical Test:
1. On November 10th and 11th, at the convenience of the Selection Committee, a practical test may be carried out with the candidates selected in the interview.

4) Results:
A list of the names of candidates selected at the end of the selection process, in order of ranking, will be published at the Embassy’s website (

5) Contract:
1. The highest ranked candidate will be invited to sign an employment contract, for a period of three (3) months of experience, without the right to indemnity or compensation in the event of termination by the employer, in accordance with local labor law;
2. The contract will be valid for one year, renewable by mutual agreement.
