The Opportunity
As a Senior Data Engineer, you'll provide leadership to complex data analysis, uses and explores data, languages, tools and software to best construct data for predictive modelling, tests the model, trains data to deploy the modelling within complex business environments and a large complexity of IT systems and data. You will manage and influences technical existing and new computer science platforms to design, to analyze and implement complex and new data driven solutions, with an impact on the IT Structure and Architecture.

Responsibilities
• Managing and influencing the data analysis approaches, using different technologies, big data preparations, programming and loading as well as initial exploration in the process of searching and finding data patterns
• Using data science input and requests, translating these from data exploration - large record (billions) and unstructured data sets - to mathematic algorithms and uses various tooling from programming languages to new tools (artificial and machine learning) to find data patterns, build and optimize models
• Leading and implementing ongoing tests in the search for solutions in the data modelling, collecting and preparing the training of data, tones the data, optimizing algorithm implementations to test, scale, and deploying future models
• Making recommendations to design/build/deploy complex data models related to BU and Chapter team questions independently
• Leading the development of technical roadmaps and approaching for data analyses to find patterns, to design data models, to scale the model to a managed production environment within the current or a technical landscape to develop
• Influencing and managing data exploration from analysis to scalable models, working independently and deciding quick on transfers in complex data analysis and modelling
• Impacting on IT structure and architecture and providing leadership to this discipline
• Independently using own judgement to identify data requirements and influencing the design and implementation of the IS/IT data strategy
• Working independently on tough problems with other team members and independently solve, with little guidance in only most difficult problems
• Coaching or leading lower-level engineers and other technical groups
• Representing the team while working on project across BU and Chapter teams. Acting as an internal and external expert to-go-to in how to drive advanced Computer Science and Engineering skills and techniques

Requirements for the employee

Candidates with education suit the position

University education (Bachelor's degree)

Language skills

English - Upper intermediate (B2)

Personality requirements and skills

Required
• Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• 5+ years’ experience or relevant project / coursework
• Up-to-date specialized knowledge of data wrangling, manipulation and management of technologies to affect change across business units
• Ability to manipulate voluminous data with different degree of structuring across disparate sources to build and communicate actionable insights for internal or external parties
• Integration and API platforms experience with technologies: Restful, GraphQL
• Solution-oriented enabler mindset
• Seasoned developer or technical lead with deep insight into newest technologies and trends
• Experience with two of the following languages: Java, Scala, Python or R
• Experience using Spark (Scala or PySpark) in a production environment
• Experience with data formats including Parquet, ORC or AVRO
• Understanding of Web Services as well as JSON formats
• Working knowledge of SQL and Relational Databases
• Experience using a “Data Lake” environment
• Experience using Spark (Scala or PySpark)
• Architectural understanding of Horizontally Scalable solutions
