Job description, responsibilities and duties

This position reports into the Underwriting Operations Controls Team Lead; the team’s remit includes supporting the Client’s Delegated Management Team and includes the management of pre/post bind contracts, data processing, audit and performance management. The role will help establish the delegated management framework, processes and services. An important success factor for this role is ensuring that the desired quality and service levels are met at all times.

Key Responsibilities

• Facilitating the pre-bind governance for new delegated authorities and binders
• Leading the post-bind management, in particular the processing of bordereaux by a third-party vendor
• Managing the day-to-day relationship with the bordereau processing vendor and dealing with queries
• Managing all aspects of delegated audits including the audit panel, scheduling, scope, and post-audit actions
• Managing delegated renewals
• Support the Delegated Authority manager in the gathering and sharing of insight based on data
• Communication with Underwriters, Underwriting Support Assistants and Coverholders.
• Function to be efficient and effective both internally and externally

Requirements for the employee

Candidates with education suit the position

University education (Bachelor's degree)
University education (Master's degree)

Language skills

English - Upper intermediate (B2)

Experience in the position/sector

• Insurance or reinsurance industry experience

Personality requirements and skills

Essential Skills

• University degree preferred, although not required
• Relevant (re)insurance industry experience, specifically within delegated authorities
• A good knowledge and understanding of the current delegated underwriting and delegated claims bylaws and regulation
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to consider and work with different operational models
• Continuous improvement mindset
• Ability to work flexibly in order to complete duties of the role, particularly during peak periods
• Proven ability to prioritise and organise effectively

Desired skills:

• Experience with Delegated Authority Underwriting
• Good analytical skills and sensitive to the numbers
• Agile project methodology experience (beneficial)
• Hands on approach with entrepreneurial mindset

Nice to have:

• Project management certification is an advantage
• Experience with Jira or other Kanban project management platforms
