Job description, responsibilities and duties

In this role, you will act as a subject matter specialist and use your skills to provide analysis and requirements of Investment Accounting and Reporting in support of the IFRS Delivery project, comparatives and general ledger roll-in waves. You will have extensive knowledge of investment products and a strong understanding of relevant accounting principles, across all valuations with main focus on new IFRS 9 accounting standards (plus US GAAP, current IFRS and others local GAAPs).

Key Accountabilities:

• Critically assess and examine the current accounting & reporting processes and deliverables and propose areas for improvement and optimization for the future target state
• Develop understanding of data flow, system landscapes and system interactions impacting accounting transactions under relevant valuations and provide insight that helps to ensure a smooth flow of information through the accounting & reporting life cycle
• Work hand in hand with the IFRS Delivery Business analysts to ensure Investment Reporting's requirements are translated into delivered products
• Ensure best practice methods and analysis tools are used
• Anticipate issues and develop appropriate and timely solutions and provide decision relevant input
• Contribute to building stakeholder understanding and engagement on the future target state, including training the remaining Investment Reporting team across all locations

About the Team

The Global Investment Reporting team has the ownership of the Investment Financial Accounting sub-ledger for investments for all valuations and related reporting deliverables, across different locations. Swiss Re Global Finance is implementing a new system and process environment to support the financial closing for the Reinsurance business. Our role is to ensure that all the financial products are reported in line with policies and internal systems are set up properly.

Requirements for the employee

Language skills

English - Upper intermediate (B2)

Personality requirements and skills

• University degree with emphasis in Accounting and/or Finance
• Minimum 3 - 5 years of relevant work experience
• Solid understanding of financial instruments (bonds/derivates/equities)
• System implementation and change testing experience
• Strong analytical and conceptual thinking
• Familiarity with IFRS and USGAAP accounting principals with emphasis to new IFRS 9 accounting standard is advantage
• Advanced Excel skills
• Strong communication and presentations skills, both verbal and written
• Time management skills and adherence to deadlines
• Ability to work independently
