Job description, responsibilities and duties

About the Team

The Life & Health Operational Excellence & Data Management team is a core global team of approximately 20 colleagues across 7 Swiss Re office locations, plus a broader network of approximately 60 colleagues in Data Management regional teams, in the Americas, Europe, and Asia. The core global team is responsible for providing expertise on Life & Health data systems and processes to ensure that timely, accurate, and consistent data is delivered to the business, to drive continuous improvement, and to implement projects and processes that allow the business to adopt innovative new technology systems and tools.

One of the team's objects is to further develop the future vision of Operational Excellence & Data Management that will drive our operational systems and technology landscape in the coming decade, so the team also needs to think strategically about the long-term implications of user requests and design changes.

Given the global reach and diversity of the team, each of the team members needs to be able to interact in an international team setting as well as be an ambassador in their location to support regional business users.

About the Role

We are looking for a highly motivated individual able to:

- Support the strategic business visions and mandates
- Support projects or initiatives relating to the L&H Landscape and/or data platforms.
- Grow innovative ideas and specific needs that are generated from across the business to establish technical feasibility, define business requirements and assess comprehensive impact, supporting innovative ideas through development and implementation.
- Harnessing full global reach while crafting collaboration and support across Life and Health.
- Ability to assist the business with queries and development ideas based on system and process knowledge in the end-end L&H Landscape.
- Provide support to L&H business users on their analytical needs
- Support the L&H OpEx management for key meetings including those for senior leadership
- Keep up to date on technology advances to help keep momentum in moving towards a future ready state in data handling and reporting.

Language skills

English - Upper intermediate (B2)

Personality requirements and skills

- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word
- An understanding of reinsurance/insurance processes (specifically Life and Health) is a huge plus
- Power BI and/or Stargate knowledge a plus
- Programming language (i.e., SQL, DAX) knowledge a plus
- Experience in project management is a plus
- Interested in data/data quality with strong analytical skills a plus
- Ability to support projects while feeding positive inputs to help support delivery.
- A good communicator proficient in English, with presentation skills to discuss and convey with multiple levels.
- A problem solver, able to apply curious and creative thinking.
- Able to build trust and relationships by acting as a role model – being the 'go to person', always maintaining a professional approach, take ownership for tasks and being trusted to deliver and see things through to completion.
- Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment as well as independently with minimum supervision
- Able to demonstrate agility to cultivate collaboration and partnership across the wider Swiss Re network - working in multi-functional and multi-cultural teams a plus.
- Able to demonstrate keen appetite in learning and developing existing knowledge.
