Job description, responsibilities and duties

Are you a senior technology leader with a hands-on approach to coaching and guiding technologists to deliver solutions? Do you embrace the servant-leader model of technology leadership? Are able to plan the strategic technology direction while executing tactically to achieve short-term goals that are aligned to the strategic goals?


If you answered yes to all these questions, then you have the prerequisites needed to be a Tech Area Leader in Swiss Re.


The Risk Insights Tech Area Leader is responsible for the overall technology delivery for Risk Insights Alliance which includes various Product Areas like 'Pricing', 'Medical Reinsurance' , 'Client Guide' and 'Underwriting' . You will partner with the business Alliance lead, Product Area Leaders and Tech Area Leaders of all Product Areas within the Alliance to determine priorities and ensure that technology can support the goals of the organization. You will align technology strategy with fellow Tech Area Leads to maximize technology investments and decide where experimentation is warranted to innovate and drive practices and technology forward.


You will be integral in the decision of technical tooling and carry out regular reviews of performance metrics. From a people management perspective, you will be the ultimate responsibility of the Product Areas technical personnel, including coordination with vendors. You should be able to deal with multiple stakeholders outside your organization. You inform the people in your area about the state and direction of the tech strategy adopted. You will mentor the people around you and drive collaboration and knowledge sharing to benefit your area and the broader organization.

About the Team


The team consist of Tech Area leads for each Product Area who are highly passionate about technology and deep understanding of business process

The team has a proven track record of successful delivery and have pipeline of deliveries planned for next 2-3 years

The team is also focused on next phase of Cloud transformation which is a critical part of digital transformation

To succeed in this role, you will possess …

Proven experience as technological leader having lead projects spanning multiple teams or headed an IT division or organization

Substantial experience in IT architecture and development in an agile environment

Negotiation capabilities to resolve trade-offs at your level without need for escalating

Proven analytical skills, business acumen and experience making decisions based on hard and soft data

A deep understanding of your area of expertise and the common hurdles and challenges there within

Commitment to the organization’s new way of working through greater collaboration and breaking down of technological siloes

Good understanding of emerging technology trends and Cloud architecture

Experience in designing applications with global regulations and data protection guideline requirements

Open to new ideas and ability to adapt to changes

Experience in applying technology to solve business problems and realize vision & strategy

Experience working with global teams across multiple time zones and cultures
