Job description, responsibilities and duties

About the Role:

Underwriting – the process of assessing the complex risk a person poses in order to either accept or decline their life insurance application – is a core strength of iptiQ. As an Underwriter based in Bratislava you will support all underwriting related activities of our extended Team based in major cities across Europe. Following a period of initial training, you will use our world leading underwriting manual (Life Guide) and a network of experienced support professionals to make recommendations on individual life insurance risks. As your skills grow, you will also participate in more sophisticated services which we provide to our clients including product development, reporting, training material preparation, audit, etc.

Every day, you will be responsible for handling the following:
- Registration of underwriting cases via our administrative system.
- Assessment of medical and financial documents to establish a recommendation with the help of our underwriting tools and specialists.
- Preparation and support for client facing activities, such as trainings and audits.
- Support for translation of underwriting related tools.

Other activities/accountabilities:
- You will collaborate cross-functionally with other teams.
- You will perform other position related tasks on an ad hoc basis.
- You might travel to other Swiss Re locations from time to time (once travel is safe again).

You will join a growing team of Life & Health Underwriters in Bratislava who are responsible for supporting major markets across EMEA on the business side, including case assessment and various client needs. You will also work closely with regional and cross-functional partners.

Requirements for the employee

Candidates with education suit the position

Secondary with school-leaving examination
Follow-up/Higher Professional Education
University education (Bachelor's degree)
University education (Master's degree)
Postgraduate (Doctorate)

Language skills

English - Upper intermediate (B2) and German - Upper intermediate (B2)

Personality requirements and skills

About You:

- Life & Health (re-)insurance experience with underwriting skills is a real advantage, but we are open to other relevant backgrounds (medical knowledge, financial specialist or similar).
- You are proficient in English and German
- You consistently demonstrate curiosity, energy and interest to learn new things.
- You have excellent interpersonal skills and are a great teammate that shares knowledge and information proactively.
- You are good in analytical and critical thinking.
- You are flexible and able to prioritize varied demands of multiple partners.
