Job description, responsibilities and duties
MISSION:
• As a member of the Product engineering department is expected, the geometry engineer supports activities linked to geometry scope.
• Perform measurements in accordance to project measurement plans, ensuring compliance with customer test/ measurement methods.
• Is involved in testing devices development under geometry engineer management.
• Preparation of the laboratory Geometry reports.
MAIN ACTIVITIES:
• Estimates the budget (hours + costs) needed to make control fixtures and measurements and submit to his Manager for validation.
• Defines and validates measurement scenario in accordance with customer and project expectations (Technical files of checking fixtures).
• Manages follow-up & validation of supplier Checking Fixtures studies in accordance with project team.
• Manages technical follow-up of Checking Fixtures manufacturing (modular, production…).
• Validates the commissioning of checking fixtures in accordance with standards & Technical files (Safety, functionality, R&r, lack of interference…) before transferring it from the supplier.
• Defines product & parts measurement plans in accordance with EPM requirement
• Manages modifications and tuning of checking fixtures with the suppliers
• Participates to the Trial Preparation Meeting and launches mandatory actions issued from it.
• Drives EPM & DL choice in geometry convergence:
• By building synthesis of different measurement results: 1D, 2D, 3D & capabilities
• By analysis of R&R results then advise to proceed to actions on Checking fixture, product &/or work instructions
• Manages measurement flow and the storage of parts & Checking Fixtures within the metrology department.
• Manages the transfer and validation of the checking fixtures to the plant.
• Manages technical folder of checking fixture.
• Suggests and collects, if necessary, to improve the measurement methodologies.
• Participates on measurements and analysis.
• Ensures that the tools and methodology are used correctly within the projects
• Respects rules & Safety instructions in the workplace and helps actively to describe safety & environment anomalies that may lead to risky situations or to cause accidents (near-miss accidents, material incidents or HSE alerts).
• Respects 5S procedures defined in the workplace.
• Proposes and validates best working conditions with checking fixtures (Ergonomics studies).
• Plans, organizes, makes or sub-contract all measurements according to Metrology Requests,
• Provides measurement activities with laboratory equipment such as 3D scan, feeler gauge and caliper measurements etc.
