Job description, responsibilities and duties

Under the overall guidance of the Head of Office (HoO) in Bratislava, and the direct supervision of the Migrant Protection and Assistance (MPA) National Project Officer, and in collaboration with other team members, the incumbent will be responsible for the coordination of IOM’s Migration Information Centre (MIC) community and outreach services; supporting the community cohesion and inclusion of migrants in regions of Slovakia.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:
1.Independently lead and coordinate the activities concerned with the MIC community outreach services in all regions of Slovakia;
2.Coordinate, guide and supervise the work of the MIC community outreach team in regions of Slovakia in relation to all MIC services;
3.Coordinate regional coverage of MIC outreach services in the country including liaison and networking opportunities to facilitate social inclusion of TCNs and their access to public services, authorities;
4.Coordinate outreach activities, including community events, workshops, appearances and other communication opportunities;
5.Supervise case management and advise on further outreach activities related to social and labour inclusion of migrants;
6.Establish cooperation with representatives of migrant communities, local and regional institutions, relevant governmental, non-governmental entities as well as other international organisations and local NGOs on project activities;
7.Coordinate regional coverage of MIC services in the country in relation community outreach services including liaison and networking with regional stakeholders and municipalities;
8.Elaborate research reports and recommendations;
9.Develop and organize outreach activities, including community events, workshops, appearances and other communication opportunities;
10.Monitor and update MIC website, including insertion of updates, newsletters, social media posts/blogs;
11.Prepare various visibility materials in form of presentations, photos, articles, short films or others;
12.Organize meetings, workshops and training sessions; prepare training materials and information materials for target group in Slovak and English and participate in the delivering of capacity building workshops;
13.Assist in the preparation of periodic and final reports to the donor, including filing and preparation of supporting documentation and in overall planning, coordination, implementation and monitoring of project activities;
14.Compile, summarize, analyse, and present information/data on specific project topics, highlighting noteworthy issues for the consideration of appropriate parties;
15.Draft status reports; identify shortfalls in delivery, bring them to the attention of the supervisor and suggest corrective measures;
16.Draft correspondence on project issues; prepare and update reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, and other forms of documentation;
17.Respond to complex information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records;
18.Gather and archive data, information and supporting documentation necessary for the project implementation;
19.Provide guidance/training to other staff in the team;
20.Participate on other project-related activities, as required;
21.Participate in meetings as required;
22.Perform such other duties as may be assigned by Head of Office.

General Staff (GVII, UN Salary Scale valid for the Slovak Republic since 1 Jan 2009). Step one of the salary scale corresponds to all inclusive fee 2199.00 EUR per month (income is exempted from taxation).
6 weeks of paid annual leave per year (2.5 days per completed month of service).

Education
•Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with five (5) years of relevant professional experience
•Master’s degree in related area will be an advantage.

Experience
•Experience in educational activities, community outreach or similar field work;
•Experience in working with communities, municipalities, governments, civil society and the private sector;
•Experience in marketing/communications, including website content, newsletters, social media posts/blogs;
•Experience in preparing and delivering trainings is an advantage;
•Experience in writing and editing of articles and reports;
•Experience in cultural mediation or similar is an advantage;
•Experience in working with migrants, migration management, and international migration issues is an advantage;
•Experience in social, labour and migration law of the Slovak Republic and human rights law is an advantage.
