Job description, responsibilities and duties

The global IP team supports the creation and protection of IP across all the many and diverse businesses of Thermo Fisher. We rely on IP Coordinators to be the key communication link between the business units and individual business sites, and between the IP team and both the R&D and Marketing teams.

Core Responsibilities of the IPC:
• Help inventors Identify and document inventions
• Work with inventors to provide technical support during patent prosecution
• Communication status and drive completion of Freedom To Operate Reviews and Waivers
• Assist in developing and maintaining patent marking records as prescribed by NPDI and work instructions
• Working with the R&D leadership team - help to create the yearly IP strategy review and the quarterly updates for the supported business
• Assist in training and mentoring R&D and Marketing colleagues in internal IP practices and procedures

Personality requirements and skills

• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
• 3-5 years’ experience in software development for scientific instruments and data analysis, with an understanding of formal software development processes. Experience with Agile scrum process preferred.
• Strong interest in intellectual property for software. Registered patent agent preferred.
• Excellent English and Slovak oral and written communication skills.
