Job description, responsibilities and duties

GLOBSEC is a Bratislava-based international think tank dedicated to advancing security, prosperity, and sustainability in Europe and around the globe. It maintains liaison offices in Brussels, Kiev, and Washington, DC. Its mission is to shape policy by generating new ideas and solutions for a better and safer world. During the past years, GLOBSEC has grown into a leading do-tank in Central Europe that organizes the most prominent conferences in the region of Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). GLOBSEC aims to bridge the CEE region vis-à-vis Brussels and Washington and supports European and transatlantic ties. We are committed to engaging senior policymakers and renowned experts to deliver forward-looking ideas, elevate public discourse, and ultimately contribute policy and predictability to an uncertain world.

We are currently seeking a Project Coordinator to join our Defence & Security Stream (Streams are our policy departments) within the Future of Security (FoS) The programme is dedicated to analysing and addressing the most critical security issues impacting Central Europe and the world, with the focus on the nexus between emerging tech and security, NATO and EU defence integration, national security and terrorism. From GLOBSEC’s inception in 1993, the programme has composed a foundational element of the organization’s ethos.

As a Project Coordinator you will mainly support day-to-day programming and operations of the Future of Security Programme. You will also coordinate various events and provide administrative and organizational support to projects and activities.

Your further daily activities will include:

Management
• Supporting day-to-day management as assigned, including preparing background materials, internal notes, scheduling internal and external meetings, conference agendas, invitations, list of invitees, stakeholder mapping, media monitoring, preparing summaries and readouts,
• Coordinating, organizing, and running events of various formats (roundtables, discussions, research visits, conferences)
• Cooperation with other departments on the development of Strategic Forums: providing inputs to the agenda, stakeholders, coordinating the implementation of policy processes, ensuring that key policy priorities are reflected in the planning of the Strategic Forums of the organization
• Stakeholder management: identification of the right stakeholders, tracking their engagements, developing ideas for individual engagement
• Management of internal and project budgets; development and control of deadlines, budgets and activities

Fundraising and business development
• Development of ideas and partnerships with key institutional and corporate partners
• Writing and submission of project proposals for funding

Policy Work
• Coordination of the implementation of the policy agenda;
• Writing and editing expert publications
• Providing inputs into the agenda of Strategic Forums
• Representing the programme in the media and events (conferences, forums, roundtables, and other)

Personality requirements and skills

To qualify for this position we expect you to have/be
• at least 1 years of experience in academia, think-tank, public sector, or related business
• High level of analytical skills supported by sound results
• be able to manage multiple and complex tasks, and to work under pressure in a deadline-focused environment
• Experience with event organization
• Proficiency in written and spoken communication in English is required (C1 level)
• Residence in or relocation to Bratislava; hybrid work is possible
