Job description, responsibilities and duties

The Bardejov Jewish Preservation Committee (BJPC) is dedicated to the restoration of the Jewish communal properties of Bardejov, Slovakia – a UNESCO World Site Heritage. It further works to build awareness of the cultural and historical significance of the Jewish life in Bardejov before WWII and memorialize the 3,000-plus Jews from Bardejov who perished in the Holocaust. The organization seeks to fulfill the position of Operations Manager to carry out day to day functions of the organization on site in Bardejov. We seek a creative, detail-oriented, organized and highly productive individual who can work independently yet is also a team player. This individual should have excellent communication skills, ability to multitask, and flexibility in managing a variety of tasks. High level of English is a must.

The position will ideally be located in Bardejov, Slovakia; however, the organization is also open to the position working remotely from elsewhere in the region. The Operations Manager will also carry the title of Director for the Fond Židovského Dedičstva v Bardejove n.o., BJPC’s affiliated Slovakian NGO.

Job responsibilities and duties
• Manage and coordinate all BJPC activities in Bardejov and Slovakia which include:
o Providing local support for USA office;
o Represent BJPC for activities in Bardejov and Slovakia
o Oversee communication with local public officials
o Support activities in the Bardejov Jewish suburbia, including archaeological and restoration work by contracted vendors
o Assist with logistical support and strategic development for heritage tours within Bardejov
• Organize annual Holocaust remembrance ceremony
• Provide logistical support for educational activities
• Provide support for grant writing

Minimum Qualifications
University education, bachelor's degree
English, written and spoken at intermediate (B1) level
Interest in history, culture and heritage
Highly effective communicator
Professional flexibility

Preferred Qualifications
English, written and spoken at upper intermediate (B2) level
Familiarity with grant schemes and grant writing
Budgetary management experience
Project management experience
