Job description, responsibilities and duties

Head of Industry Decarbonisation

EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy, a leading think-tank with headquarters in Prague and a satellite office in Brussels, is looking for a full time professional to lead a new international project titled „Decarbonisation of industrial sector: sustainable finance as an opportunity?“.

The project will be implemented in a consortium with four other think tanks based in the V4 countries. The project is financed by the European Climate Initiative (EUKI) and aims to support and empower decision-makers and stakeholders of the V4 high-emitting industries to create a momentum for starting industrial decarbonisation and its financing. We are offering a full-time vacancy in an international and ambitious team at an office located in the heart of Prague. The chosen candidate will engage with and report to the project board comprised of the participating organisations’ senior management. The ideal starting date is the 1st of October 2021.

Responsibilities & expectations:

  • Perform day-to-day management of the project and effective implementation
  • Perform day-to-day management of the project and ensure its effective implementation
  • Oversee the organisation and implementation of the individual activities and milestones of the project across all countries
  • Coordinate the project team with members in all Visegrad countries
  • Ensure effective and timely communications with the project partners
  • Assist in further development, implementation and monitoring of the overall project implementation plan
  • Help map the financial, regulatory and policy barriers to industry decarbonisation efforts
  • Assist with the analysis of current industry decarbonisation challenges and take part in some of the project activities
  • Establish and maintain the project monitoring, evaluation and reporting system in order to submit timely and accurate narrative and financial reports to EUKI
  • Manage and mitigate the projects´ risks, while also identifying and addressing potential issues
  • Act as a spokesperson for the project and its findings, representing the project in various fora

Required competencies and skills:

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree with a focus on business, economics, management, finance or another relevant field
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build good working relationships with colleagues and partners
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to prioritise
  • Eagerness to learn and develop, and to work both independently and pro-actively
  • Great organisational skills and familiarity with a business mindset
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Fluency in written and spoken English, any V4 language, in addition, will be seen as an advantage
  • Previous practical experience with project and team management (at least two references from previous employers required)
  • High level of research/analytical skills
  • Strong leadership and networking skills (an existing professional network related to the EU Green Deal or Sustainable Finance Agenda will be seen as an advantage)
  • Previous work on EU Green Deal and Sustainable Finance Agenda, and any experience with stakeholder engagement or management will be seen as an asset
