Junior Security Monitoring Engineer (m/f)

  • Basic wage component (gross) and other rewards: From 1 700 EUR/month*Performance bonus 2 times per year up to 16,67% of the basic salary paid for the evaluation period (usually 6 months).

Job description, responsibilities and duties

Are you interested in IT security? Join our Service Security team and help us to fight threads. You will work with assigned customers and be a part of development of new technologies under a supervision of a senior colleague. We are looking forward to meet you!

Your task will be:

- Perform optimization of the monitoring system on assigned environments under a supervision of a senior colleague.
- Investigate security incidents, find connections and map computer attacks.
- Analyze security threats, evaluate data on potential threats.
- Preparation of reports (internal/external).
- Communication with customers about incidents.
- Cooperate on development of new technologies for monitoring and identification of security breaches under a supervision of a senior colleague.
- Cooperate on development of security monitoring services.
- Consult and prepare computer security recommendations (for specific customer or online forum).
- Work with malicious code identification systems.
- Cooperate on deep analysis of malicious code.
- Continual education in relevant fields of computer security.
- Perform conceptual, systemic, creative and methodological activities.
- Carry out other tasks according to the instructions of the direct manager in accordance with the activities of the department and the company.

Personality requirements and skills

What do we expect from you:

- At least 1,5 years of experience in IT security
- Interest in continuous education in the field of computer security
- Analytical thinking with an eye for detail
- Patience when processing a lot of data
- Independence
- The ability to communicate with the customer
English language - ability to understand technical text, write simple technical reports and recommendations
- Fluent Slovak or English is a must
- Knowledge of the Windows/Linux operating system, knowledge of system tools
- Basic knowledge of the inner workings of the Windows/Linux system (how things work) - processes, registries, filesystem, services, scheduling, etc.
- Knowledge of computer networks (IP address, port, protocols, MAC address, etc.)
- Basic knowledge of scripts: powershell, batch/cmd, vbscript/javascript
- A basic overview of computer security

What will make us even more happy:

- Any kind of IT Security certificates or other technological certificates is an advantage (CEH, Windows, Unix, Network Security)
- experience working in SOC
- experience working with SIEM
- experience with evaluation of outputs from security monitoring systems
- experience with forensic analysis or Incident Response
- certificates in the field of computer security - e.g. CEH
- technological certificates - Windows, Unix, networks

The beginnings of ESET date back to 1987, when two young programming enthusiasts, Peter Paško and Miroslav Trnka, wrote a program for the detection of one of the world’s first computer viruses. They did not know that they had created one of the most successful antivirus programs in the world – dubbing it NOD.
