Job description, responsibilities and duties

We are looking for an experienced Team Leader in software development. You will be leading one of ESET PROTECT´s development team which is responsible for development of ESET PROTECT cloud and on-premises product (link to the demo of ESET PROTECT Console: https://www.eset.com/uk/business/dem...

You will be joining an agile and self-organizing team that focuses on providing customers with continuously improving experience. Your core responsibilities will be:

• Developing highly motivated, high performing, inclusive, Agile Scrum team of 5-8 people
• Supporting people in your team in professional growth and motivating them to deliver excellent performance
• Actively supporting innovation, novel and pro-active approaches in the field of core technologies as well as in problem solving
• Maintaining up-to-date and broad overview of the current situation and latest trends in the field of IT security and software development
• Ensure that all owned technologies deliver the highest value for customers while meeting ESET quality standards
• Managing the development team
• Actively participate in hiring and on-boarding new team members

Personality requirements and skills

Also we will expect you as Software Engineer to have:

• Experience with one or more of the following high-level programming languages: C++, C#
• Knowledge of common software development principles (OOP, design patterns, unit testing, etc.)
• Skills with version control software (Git, Bitbucket)
• Knowledge of SQL and experience with relational databases
• Understanding and good grasp of server, multiplatform, and multithreading programming
• Understanding of SaaS, PaaS, IaaS industry with hands-on experience with public or private cloud offerings (Azure)
• Understanding of microservices-based architecture and experience with microservices development stack (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm)
• Position is suitable for experienced developer with strong drive and problem-solving skills

You should apply if you:

• You are passionate about computer security and protecting people from digital threats
• You can take responsibility and have no problem to make decisions even in difficult situations
• You are experienced in Agile and words like Agile, Scrum, DevSecOps, high performing teams, Lean, servant leadership, ... are not only buzzwords for you
• Have at least 5 years of experience in a technical role in software development (preferably software engineer)
• Have experience in a people management role (can overlap with technical role)
• Have a good overview of development processes & tools
• Have experience or awareness of wide range of technologies, e.g. Azure/AWS cloud, Python, NoSQL databases, React or other front end JavaScript frameworks
• Willing to learn and try new technologies
• English language – B2 level

Brief description of the company

The beginnings of ESET date back to 1987, when two young programming enthusiasts, Peter Paško and Miroslav Trnka, wrote a program for the detection of one of the world’s first computer viruses. They did not know that they had created one of the most successful antivirus programs in the world – dubbing it NOD. In 1992, together with their mutual friend Rudolf Hrubý, they formally established ESET.
