E-Learning Specialist (Graphic Designer)

Job description, responsibilities and duties

Purpose
The E-Learning Specialist is independently responsible for the design and the development of mission critical e-learning programs for our business whilst overlooking the entire production process (end-to-end).The holder of the position is also responsible for taking an active role in researching, recommending innovative ideas and implementing them, leading projects independently while involving other persons as well.

Key accountabilities
Works in all phases of learning projects using agile production methods:

Instructional designer role
• Analyzes of customer needs and expected outcomes from the learning and content aspect, derivation of the optimal solution.
• Creates training concepts and storyboards for e-learning courses using didactic elements, templates and best practices.
• Writes frame stories and storyboards for various types of videos and e-courses.
• Develops ideas for desired learning goals using didactic methods and learning formats specific to video making and e-learning.
Writes/Develops different types of text (dialogues, information sharing, instructions, etc.).
• Develops exercises, quizzes, question banks, etc. with scoring system.
• Builds content (text, pictures, instructions, exercises, etc.) in authoring tool.
• Writes and builds complex quizzes, question banks and exam modules in tool.
• Has responsibility for conduct testing for accessibility and other functional requirements using checklist and guidelines, makes necessary corrections.
• Exports and makes settings in SCORM.
• Moderates and facilitates of simple events (etc. Webex meetings).
• Acts as an advisor on e-learning good practice.

Graphic&Visual designer role
• Analyzes of customer needs and expected outcomes from graphical aspect, derivation of the optimal solution.
• Understands and interprets stories, storyboards, concept descriptions and texts for various topics.
• Defines the graphical&visual ideas for desired goals for new projects.
• Develops graphical concept, styles cape using professional, visual/graphic design best practice.
• Creates project specific complex graphical or visual concepts and concept maps using professional visualization tools.
• Designs and builds all necessary graphical elements (images, infographics, icons, buttons, characters, diagrams, scenes, etc.) for videos and e-courses based on concept map.
• Uses at least one more complex, animation tool, eg. Vyond, After effects.
• Acts as an advisor on visual good practice, visual explanation, visual schemas, models, combining text and images for effective learning process.

Both instructional designer and graphic designer
• Makes audio and video recording. Cuts and edits video and audio files using internal guidelines and meeting requirements.
• Makes subtitles for videos in English and in German language.
• Understands accessibility guidelines and practice in all tools and applications.
• Manages databases by accurately updating them with necessary data.
• Supports the life-cycle management of digital learning at our company: production, implementation and delivery of products, regular updates, reporting.
• Has responsibility for maintenance of existing e-learning training (content, format, platform).
• Prepares reports.

General tasks:
• Has responsibility for assigned tasks.
• Ensures meeting the scope of the projects, products, budget and schedule.
• Develops and applies processes, best practices, guidelines and all parts of the quality assurance system of team.
• Works in all phases of projects using agile methods.
• Leads projects, manages all activites and team assigned to make desired outcome.
• Works effectively with project plans, project resources, capacity plans and other project related documentation.
• Collaborates and communicates effectively with team members and subject matter experts, customers and learners.
• Acts assertively, constructively and proactively in team to contribute to achieving personal and team goals.
• Uses time and task managements principles.
• Supports team members and leaders in any task arising.
• Monitors technological advances and propose technical solutions for learning products.
• Is responsible for self-improvement on key aspects of e-learning development, eg: e-learning and video production technology, adult learning principles, instructional design best practices, visual explanations, etc.
• Does research and recommend improvements to existing services.
• Coaches team members on key aspects of e-learning development, eg: e-learning and video production technology, adult learning principles, instructional design best practices, etc.
• Advises key partners, eg. subject matter experts, business owners, content owners, members of partner teams on best practice, solutions and way of working together.
• Takes part in educating new team members and business partners on production related topics (tool usage, best practice, etc).
• Builds excellent collaboration with key partners and act as trusted partner in projects.
• Acts as SPOCK for assigned business units if assigned.
