Job description, responsibilities and duties
Purpose
Business System Analyst is focused on 'What' (What is the requirement) and 'How' (How the requirement will be implemented) in software development lifecycle.
Main role is to understand the business processes, procedures (how the business works) and requirements to identify areas of improvement(problem areas), and to work with the business stakeholders to identify and design suitable solutions, document the functional and, often, technical implementation of the software/IT system. If the solution involves the development or modification of information systems, the business system analyst is also responsible to gather, analyze, and document the business requirements which must be fulfilled by thesoftware.
The Business systems analyst also helps to solve problems and issues with existing systems through research of these systems, code reviews, data analysis
Key accountabilities
• Holds meeting with stakeholders to understand business processes, main business data and their relationship and provides deep analysis
• Negotiates, elicitates business need and requirements with customer to guarantee quality of analysis and implementation in wishful output
• Translates business needs and requirements into functional and non-functional requirements of the software
• Creates requirements detailed documentation incl. requirements changes tracking and high level tracking of requirement’s implementation
• Designs system model independent of platform (mostly in UML, behavioral / data models) to have space for customer to choose suitableplatform by himself
• Provides high level modeling of business processes and main business data for imagination and agreement with customer and developer(using BPM, UML)
• Provides project estimates, timeline like total number of development hours, total number of testing hours and bug fixing and report it tocustomer for budget planning in advance
• Supports application testing to ensure, that business requirements are properly implemented
• Writes user guides and provides training to power users, describes GUI (graphical user interface)
• Keeps business knowledge and shares it with customer and developers (especially in case of personnel changes)
• Communicate project status and deliverables to managers, customer with efficiency and accuracy of any progress or delays to keep them informed and let them be ready for managerial decision and project’s adjustment in advance
• Makes proposals for optimization of processes by identification of business process improvements, participates in process documentation creation
• In case of reported issues during application operation, supports customer to provide timely solutions
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by higher management (e.g. official presentations, business case model, feasibility study
