Job description, responsibilities and duties

Applications are sought from persons interested in employment at the Australian Embassy in Vienna as Locally Engaged Staff. Initially a one year full time (36:75 hours per week) contract will be offered, with the possibility of conversion to a permanent contract after one year.

The Embassy and Permanent Mission is accredited to Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the United Nations and other international organisations in Vienna.

About the position

This position contributes to the work of the Corporate Services Section by performing duties relating to one or more of the finance, HR, IT, property or general administration functions. The position also provides safe, secure and reliable transport for the Ambassador (Head of Mission, HOM) and for other members of staff and official visitors as required, and has responsibility for maintaining the Embassy’s official vehicles in clean and sound condition.

Key responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

Drive the HOM vehicle or other official cars as directed, including to countries of accreditation, to transport staff, officials and visitors as required
Assist the HOM and other personnel in support of official functions (greeting guests, escorting visitors).
Maintain all official vehicles in immaculate condition and good running order, including by arranging service appointments, tyre changes, registrations, maintaining logbooks, etc.
Perform routine finance, HR, IT, property and general administrative duties as required under direction from the Corporate Services Manager
Assist with purchases, repairs and maintenance for the Chancery and A-based apartments, including liaising with, booking, and supervising external service providers
Provide day-to-day support and backup support for more senior members of the team as required
